1. About Transport Direct


1.1) How much of Britain does Transport Direct cover?

Transport Direct currently covers the United Kingdom excluding Northern Ireland.  We may have more information on certain areas than others, but we are constantly seeking new sources of information for the website.

 


1.2) Where does Transport Direct get its information?

The majority of the public transport information is obtained from our regional ‘traveline’ partners.

 

For rail information

 

  • ATOC – “Association of Train Operating Companies”

 

For coach information

 

  • National Express
  • Scottish Citylink

 

For major road information

 

  • Highways Agency
  • Traffic Scotland
  • Traffic Wales

 

In the future, we plan to include information for Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man on the Transport Direct website.  For information on all of the Transport Direct data providers, see ‘Data Providers’ in the ‘About us’ section.

 


1.3) Is the information on Transport Direct accurate?

While Transport Direct aims to provide accurate and up-to-date information, we do not guarantee that the information will always be complete or correct. For further details, please read the ‘Terms & conditions’.

 


1.4) How often is the information on Transport Direct updated?

Journey planning and timetable information is updated on a daily or weekly basis, depending on type of transport.

 

  • Rail timetable and fares information is updated every night, whereas bus timetables are generally updated weekly.  Changes to schedules and fares may occur after the information has been obtained by Transport Direct
  • ‘Live travel’ news shown on Transport Direct is updated every 15 minutes
