9. Live travel
Yes, you can get up-to-date travel news for all regions in Britain on the ‘Live travel news’ page.
You can get to the Live Travel news page in these ways:
- Open the ‘Live travel’ tab
- Click on a live travel incident on the homepage (javascript required)
- Click on ‘Live travel’ from the left hand navigation on the homepage
The Live travel page can advise you of events that can affect or delay journeys, such as traffic accidents, severe weather warnings or emergency road works.
You can choose to view only the information that interests you by selecting options from the drop-down lists provided. You can view the information by:
- Type of transport
- Region
- Delay severity e.g. ‘Major delays’, or ‘All delays’, or "Recent delays"
You can also view train departures and arrivals (for a station) and live bus information.
- Click the ‘Departure boards’ link.
- Click either a bus information link or the national rail link. This will open a new browser window.
- Follow the instructions given on that site.
- Once you have finished viewing the departure board information, you may return to the Transport Direct site by closing the browser window.
- ‘Live travel’ news information is updated every 15 minutes on Transport Direct
- ‘Departure boards’ information is updated at the discretion of the specific site owners.

- Click any of the information links to open a new browser window.
- Follow the instructions given on that site.
- Once you have finished viewing the departure board information, you may return to the Transport Direct site by closing the browser window.
